The Island is a crown dependency belonging to neither the United Kingdom nor the European Union. It has it's own government in the form of the world's oldest continuous parliament, Tynwald, as well as it's own laws, traditions, language (although not commonly spoken), culture and stamps. The capital is Douglas, located on the east coats of the Island. In total, the Isle of Man is 33 miles long, 13 miles wide and covers an area of 227 square miles. The perfect location for a holiday, the Island offers beautiful scenery, miles of beaches, medieval castles, Viking burial grounds, Victorian railways and international motor sport. There is plenty of opportunity for golf, fishing, horse riding, water sports and other activities as well as fascinating museums and heritage centres to visit. The
Island is easily accessible, with flights from many UK airports and links
from seaports. |
